Guidelines
Video Guidelines Last Revised: 05/20/2024 We recognize the importance of providing a safe environment for everyone in the travel community. Our platform aims to deliver useful and relevant guidance to help travelers plan their trips. All accepted and posted videos must meet these requirements. These Video Guidelines cover the rules for video submissions uploaded or shared with Travel Code. Please note that these guidelines may be modified from time to time, so check back for updates. Key Requirements Relevant to Other Travelers: All videos must be relevant to an accommodation, an attraction, a location, or general travel experiences. Video Duration: Videos should be under 30 seconds, with a maximum length of 60 seconds. Video Format: Acceptable video formats include .mp4 or .mov, with a preference for .mp4. Audio: Only non-copyrighted music will be accepted. Clear audio voiceover and captions in English can be included. No other sound effects are allowed; any other added music will be removed. Video Size: Videos must not exceed 500 MB. Video Resolution: Videos should have a minimum frame rate of 30 FPS (frames per second) and a minimum resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels. Travel Code does not support 4K or higher resolutions. If you upload a 4K video to Travel Code, it will be compressed and cropped. Video Orientation: All videos must be filmed in portrait mode (9:16). License and Rights to Publicity of Content: By submitting a video, you hereby grant Travel Code and its affiliates a nonexclusive, royalty-free, fully paid, worldwide, perpetual, irrevocable, transferable, and fully sublicensable (through multiple tiers) right and license to: (1) use, copy, reproduce, modify, adapt, publish, translate, create derivative works from, distribute, and publicly display and perform all videos posted or submitted to Travel Code by you (whether before or after the posting of these Video Guidelines) throughout the world for any purpose in any media or form now known or hereafter devised. For any voice, image, or likeness of any individual in your video, you hereby grant Travel Code the same rights and license. Ownership: Upon Travel Code’s acceptance of your video, you hereby transfer all rights, title, and interest in and to your video to Travel Code. Creative Guidelines Engagement: Create engaging and informative videos showcasing unique aspects of the property and surroundings. Primary Focus: The primary focus of the video should be on the property. Property + Amenities: Videos should feature the property and can include the surrounding area. Include 2-3 different areas of the property such as:
Hotel (exterior landscape, view, interior, lobby, lounge, rooms, suites)
Amenities (pools, spas, gyms, dining)
Destinations: Up to 20% of the video can showcase relevant nearby attractions or experiences, such as museums, nature, activities, markets, parks, historical monuments, theme parks, wildlife, etc. Perspectives: Capture different aspects of the stay from a variety of angles and distances (e.g., eye level, from above, from far away, and up close). Avoid extreme angles like 360s, inverted angles, and distorted lenses like fisheye. Lighting and Color: Use natural sunlight where available. If shooting indoors, rely on environmental lighting. Avoid adding artificial lighting like spotlights, ring lights, or professional video/camera lighting. Natural color grading is okay. Talent: Less than 30% of the video should include talent. The focus should remain on the hotel/destination. Be candid and positive, using a 1st or 3rd POV. Wardrobe should fit the activity or environment. Avoid too many selfies, unnatural posed moments, and inappropriate wardrobe choices. Food: Highlight the dining experience during the stay, including the atmosphere, seating, location within the hotel, popular and cultural foods, room service, and in-room food perks. Avoid tight shots that miss the broader dining experience. Be mindful of alcohol consumption and locations. Creators and all others in the video must be (or appear to be) 21 years of age or older if alcohol is featured. Activities: Highlight activities available at the hotel, such as yoga, pool/spa, recreational activities, and partner business activities like boat tours and cultural tours. Showcase the destination's nature and culture, such as hikes, shopping, museums, architecture, history, zoos, etc. Incorporate reasonable safety equipment where applicable. Avoid animal tours and do not include unsafe or illegal activities. Crafted and Aspirational: Ensure locations are elevated and avoid spaces that feel too industrial or messy. Avoid a too lived-in experience, such as messy beds or personal items. Typography and Graphics: Do not include graphics, text, handwritten fonts, stickers, or overlays in your videos. Video Quality: Ensure video media is not:
Low resolution, blurry, or pixelated
Graphically filtered with overlays, borders, or artistic effects
Too dark or light
Black and white or sepia
Sideways, upside down, or improperly rotated
Using overt filters
Using a Phone to Capture Videos:
Clean your lens to avoid smudges or dust.
Use high-quality settings on your phone.
Stage the space nicely, removing unwanted items.
Use smooth, steady movements to avoid shaky shots.
Use plenty of light (avoid dark or backlit shots).
Keep the phone orientation consistent.
Limit phone zoom to avoid degrading quality.
